IN THE BEGINNING:As a young child, Thao was always enamored with all the beautiful and talented models and actresses she would see on TV, movies, and magazines. But being that she was painfully shy, Thao never thought SHE could one day be doing it herself. Growing up in Los Angeles with 5 other siblings, it was very difficult to stand out and be noticed. It wasn't until her family moved to Orange County where she started high school, that Thao started to blossom and come into her own. But because she was raised by a very strict Vietnamese father, Thao knew that he would never approve of a career in Modeling/Acting. When one has dreams to conquer, though, the last thing to stand in the way is a disapproving parent. So, off Thao went (behind her dad's back of course) and searched for ways to break into the industry.
At first, Thao started off doing local fashion shows and flyers for club promotions. But after graduating high school, she decided to take her Modeling and Acting a bit more seriously. She signed with a couple small agencies in Los Angeles, and started to book professional paying jobs. Instantly, Thao knew that Modeling/Acting was what she wanted to do. As time passed, more and more doors began to open. Thao started shooting for magazines, catalog, and other print work. At the same time, she began doing background work on movie and TV sets so that she could network, and also to get a feel of how the industry worked behind the scenes. Thao later began to land small roles on TV and video, and continued to work even harder to achieve her dreams.
A big break came when Playboy contacted Thao and asked her to be in their "College Girls" issue. She jumped at the chance, not believing that PLAYBOY was actually offering her such a wonderful opportunity. Thao was extremely humbled and grateful, and thought, "Dreams really can come true."
Since then, Thao has appeared in TV, film, print, music videos and more....
TAKING A BREAK:As much as Thao loved Modeling and Acting, the time came when she decided to take a personal hiatus and moved up north to San Jose. She lived there for several years where she began working for MAC Cosmetics as an Assistant Retail Manager. Thao discovered there that she had a new passion...for makeup artistry. The Bay Area was a fabulous place where Thao made many lifelong friends, but...she felt that "home" was calling out to her. So after living in San Jose for several years, Thao decided to make her journey back to Orange County where her family and friends were.
MAKING A COMEBACK:
Just last year in 2008, Thao began to venture back into the Modeling and Acting world. Thao is working very hard to build a new portfolio and resume, and once again signed with LA based agencies that are helping to promote and get her work. Thao is EXTREMELY thankful to all the amazing photographers, makeup artists, stylists, photoshop wizzes, and web designers who have helped her make a comeback. Thao will be shooting with SHOW magazine this coming month, and will be seen in next year's release of Universal Pictures movie, "Get Him to The Greek" which is the
second part of the hit movie "Forgetting Sara Marshall."
